Do I have to have an interview if I don't want to?

No. Dartmouth encourages applicants to have an interview if they have the opportunity to do so, and you can find out more about this here. On the other hand, if you are invited to interview and you would prefer not to, that is perfectly fine.

Please keep in mind that if an alumni interviewer contacts you to offer you an interview, you should respond to that offer even if it is to decline the meeting. Our interviewers volunteer a great deal of their time to make regional interviews possible, and it is frustrating for them when they have to contact candidates repeatedly. If you receive a phone call or an email offering you an interview but for any reason don't want to or are unable to participate in one, please let the person contacting you know this as soon as possible.
